Sydney University Surgical Society is delighted to announce Orthopaedics Grand Rounds, presented by Dr Michelle Atkinson.

Dr Atkinson is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialisation in Spinal Surgery. Her special interests include computerised navigation to improve accuracy of instrumentation placement and correction of deformities.

She graduated with a medical degree at Newcastle University and completed her Orthopaedic training in Sydney and multiple base hospitals in the country. She underwent further specialist training in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Louisville, Kentucky in the USA, and Birmingham in the UK.

Dr Atkinson was the 2016-2018 Australian Orthopaedics Association (AOA) Orthopaedics Women’s Link (OWL) President and NSW Executive Committee OWL Representative. She continues to be a role model for female and male students wanting to pursue Orthopaedics as a career.

Dr Atkinson operates at Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga & the Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest.

This grand rounds will be particularly relevant to Stage 1 students in MSK block; however, students from all stages and clinical schools are welcome.
