Urine luck! Prof Henry Woo, Professor of all things urological and social media tycoon will be giving a SUSS grand rounds talk on urology, as well as giving some insight into the use of social media as a surgeon following his much publicised twitter escapades. Looks like it’ll be a wee-lly good event – especially for you stage twos!
Seriously though, Henry Woo is a urological surgeon who is subspecialised in the management of prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is Professor of Surgery at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School of the University of Sydney. He is the Director of Uro-Oncology and the Professor of Robotic Cancer Surgery at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. He is fellowship elected Councillor of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is Board Director of the Australian and New Zealand Uro-genital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group and a Board Director of the Australasian Urological Foundation. He has published extensively and reviews for all of the major urological journals. He is an Associate Editor of the journal Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases, a Consulting Editor of the BJUI and serves on the Editorial Boards of the journals European Urology, World Journal of Men’s Health, Prostate International, Asian Journal of Urology, World Journal of Urology and PLOS One. He also has interests in professionalism in surgery, the role of social media in medicine, inequities in access to health care and evidence based practice. Outside of surgery, he goes to the gym to practice what he preaches to his patients, is a lifelong Triple J listener and a collector of retro technology (eg cameras, audio, turntables, jukeboxes etc) and vinyl records.
