USYD Discipline of Surgery
The Discipline of Surgery is the largest academic surgical department in Australasia. Units of the Discipline are established at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Westmead Hospital, Nepean Hospital, Children’s Hospital at Westmead, the Orange Health Service and Dubbo Base Hospital in Western NSW. The Discipline is at the forefront of research and clinical studies in a wide range of surgical specialties.
Sydney University Surgical Society was established with the help and support of the Discipline of Surgery and this relationship has continued to evolve. Academic surgeons within the Discipline provide teaching and mentorship opportunities for Society members who meet regularly at the University to hear from Professors of Surgery.
